T-Mobile Samsung T749 Highlight burns with 3G
Samsung really have a thing for touch phones - and now there's a new one headed to T-Mobile. It's called the Samsung T749 Highlight and it's 3G capable (Internet services being a focal point) and running the widget-happy TouchWiz.
Sporting a 3" WQVGA touchscreen, capable of displaying up to 16 million colors, Samsung T749 Highlight stands at 108 x 54 x 13.7 mm and 105 grams. The Highlight offers quad-band GSM and dual-band HSDPA (it covers the two T-Mobile's frequencies).'
The T749 Highlight is a social creature with email and support for AIM, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger. In short - the on-screen full QWERTY keyboard won't catch a break. On the local connectivity side the Samsung T749 Highlight offers USB and Bluetooth with A2DP, to be put to good use by the music player, which supports MP3, AAC and WMA. The camera is a 3 megapixel snapper with video recording, lacking any goodies like autofocus and the like. The Highlight will be available in two colors - Fire and Ice (black on blue and orange on red) and it's coming this month. It will set you back 149.99 US dollars if you are willing to sign a two-year contract.'
Motorola ROKR ZN50 touchscreen slider
While everyone is still waiting for Motorola to announce their first Android-powered smartphone, another highly intriguing model was unveiled. The full-touch Motorola ROKR ZN50 has nothing to do with Android but is still interesting enough to make it in the news.
Motorola ROKR ZN50 is the first full touchscreen music slider by the American company. Its design, slightly reminds us of the Nokia XpressMusic lineup with its blue and red accents, only that it is much hotter looking.'
Motorola ROKR ZN50 is also the first Moto to have the new Motorola panorama interface which is featuring 3 homescreens, that you can freely fill up with the load of widgets available. Motorola ROKR also fares pretty decently in terms of features. It sports a 3.2-inch 256K TFT touchscreen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 240 x 427 pixels. It also comes complete with a 3 megapixel autofocus shooter, built-in GPS receiver and support for stereo Bluetooth and HSDPA.'
LG BL40 Black Label video leaks
The fourth member of the fashionable Black Label series has just made another step toward revealing its identity. A short video appeared on YouTube demonstrating the UI of the LG BL40, as seems to be the name of the next Chocolate successor. The video also comes to confirm most of the rumored hot specs of new the handset.
LG BL40 will come with an exciting 4" touchscreen display with cinema aspect ratio of 21:9 and a resolution of 800x345 pixels. It will run what a revamped S-class UI and will sport 3G connectivity with 7.2Mbps HSDPA.
A scratch-resistant glass will make sure that your new Black Label handset keeps its excellent looks for a long time. Muti-touch, Wi-Fi and A-GPS are among the other confirmed specs.
Rumors also had it that the LG BL40 will come complete with a 5 megapixel camera but there's neither confirmation nor refutation of this one in the video. We guess LG will clear that out when they officially announce the handset next month. And here goes the video in question for you to enjoy.
Update: The initial video has been removed due to a copyright claim by LG. Now if that doesn't come to show that it was the real thing we don't know what does. Luckily we found another source of the video, which the LG lawyers haven't reached yet.'
Sony Ericsson
It seems that Sony Ericsson have put some extra hard work in customizing the Android UI, adding some nice touches of their own. Messaging and social-network integration is pretty duly covered, as suits a full QWERTY-enabled handset.
In case you need a quick memory refresh of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Rachael features known so far, here it goes. The phone is based on the Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon platform that provides a 1GHz CPU and dedicated graphics acceleration. The connectivity options of the chipset are also top-notch with Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G with HSDPA all onboard.
The fully-touch operated phone comes complete with an 8-megapixel autofocus camera, a 3.5 mm jack and a standard miniUSB jack. Probably the best part of the Sony Ericsson Rachael is its 4" touchscreen. Along with the Rachael we also got several official-looking photos of the Sony Ericsson Kiki. However we are still unable to tell you more about it, outside the peculiar design and the extraordinary display.'
Sony Ericsson XPERIA
It was only two days ago that we saw the first photos of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Rachael and now we can already confirm that it is really in the works. What's more we just received a brief video demonstrating the UI of the Android-powered handset.
We got another load of official Sony Ericsson photos of the new XPERIA member. The Rachel is this time dressed in snow-white and it looks a whole lot better this way, we might add.'
What is even more exciting is that along with the official shots that have obviously popped up a little prematurely, we also received a short video-demo of the Sony Ericsson Rachael UI. The original resolution of the video is 852 x 480 pixels, which suggests that this will also be the resolution of the Rachael display. Coming with the sweet 16:9 aspect ratio this is the highest resolution screen we have seen so far on a mobile phone.
Nokia 3720 is ready to replace golf and rugby balls
He still unannounced rugged Nokia 3720 was shown off on several official teaser videos, where some guys do all they can to break it. They play golf and kick it rugby style, but the robust 3720 got away unscratched.'
We have already informed you that Nokia are working on another rugged handset after the pretty popular 5500 Sport back in 2006. The heavy duty phone should be able to survive plenty of disasters, that would turn out fatal for its siblings.
Unluckily for the smartphone fans the Nokia 3720 will run on the S40 platform. It is IP54 certified, meaning it's dust and splash resistant.
The new Nokia will be a clear shot at the two Samsung ruggedized handsets - the 3G enabled Samsung B2700 and the cheaper Samsung B2100 Xplorer. Given the advantage those two have on hitting the shelves the Nokia certainly won't have an easy task.
After the first unofficial leak it now came time for Nokia themselves to release a little teaser about the handset. Several cool videos popped up on the Nokia Conversations website showing how Nokia 3720 handles extensive torture. In the first one the little Finn takes the role of a rugby ball but gets away pretty easily.
News On Nokia
Nokia Surge gets official, prettier than before.
Today Nokia have finally announced the Nokia Surge full-QWERTY equipped side-slider. Packing an extraordinary design the new handset runs on the S60 and packs advanced messaging features and a distinct youthful appeal. We have to admit that the handset looks a lot better on the official photos than it used to on those leaked shots.
Nokia Surge packs a 2.4" 16M-color display of QVGA resolution. Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dual-band UMTS with HSDPA 3.6Mbps support provide the network data transfers, while Bluetooth, USB and a 2.5 mm audio jack cover the local connectivity.
It's worth noting that the Nokia Surge sports the huge 1500 mAh battery that managed to impress us on Nokia E71. The list of interesting features of the device is completed by 128 MB of internal memory, expandable by up to 8GB through the microSD card slot, as well as FM radio, A-GPS and a 2 megapixel camera. The AT&T-exclusive Nokia Surge also comes complete with a host of carrier-related services, including AT&T Navigator, Yellowpages.com, Where, AT&T Music, Mobi TV, Video Share, JuiceCaster and AT&T Mobile Banking.
